After doing some research we found Burwood Beach to be our most logical choice. It is a short cab ride from the port (5 miles) to this virtually uncrowded Beach. There were maybe 18 people with 11 of them being locals. With the cab ride and the $5 per person entry and two chairs with an umbrella our total day for the two of us was $40.

The Burwood Beach, located in Falmouth, Trelawny, which was upgraded at a cost of $28 million by the Tourism Enhancement Fund (TEF), was officially handed over to the Trelawny parish council yesterday. The facility, for which entrance is free, is heavily used by both Jamaicans and cruise ship passengers.

Whilst staying at a rental property 150 Stonebrook Estate, an amazing home away from home, we visited Burwood Beach. A small charge at the gate means it's secure and safe. This is a clean local beach great for families with little ones. The water is clear and shallow. There's a bar where you can drinks as well as a small play area for children.

I reside in Jamaica, in fact I am about thirty minutes drive from the Burwood Public beach that is neighbor to the Royalton White Sands Resort in Trelawny and it is only recently that i've visited this Burwood beach spot (been there 4 times since posting this, March 2016 was my very first visit).

Jamaica in Trelawny for those who know! Feb 2019. Trelawny is a great little spot for those who know the island and want to be close enough to Dunns River but not right in Montego Bay or Ocho Rios. Burwood Beach is so quiet and relaxed and i pretty much chilled from the first moment! We stayed at the Starfish Trelawny and had a loverly time.
