Instructions The good news is the the XE line is not as popular as the XLs and thus they can be purchased on eBay for about $100 less than an 800XL, for example. At the time of this post you can pick up a 65 XE or 130XE for around $100 to $150. A boxed version might go for $50 to $100 more.

Late in the 8-bit era, and with a bit too much focus on games to be thought of as a serious computer, the cosmetic change wasn't enough to spark a comeback. The Atari 65XE was the direct replacement for the Atari 800XL Personal Computer. Price at $99.99 the 65XE was 100% compatible with all of the Atari 400/800, and XL software (some programs required the use of a "Translator" disk before use) and all peripherals. The 65XE computer had 64K of memory like the Atari 800XL and all of the same.
