I envision that it's normal for them to spend extended periods of time apart - decades - entire lifetimes of their holders in some cases. Then there are times like what we see in the show where their holders are, themselves, close. To be fair, Plagg states in the episode "Sandboy" that kwamis are unable to say the names of their current owners, but no such prohibition exists against saying the name of another Miraculous holder. After all, Tikki says Adrien's name plenty of times throughout the show, both before and after she learned his secret.

One cannot truly exist without the other but, despite that, are the diametrical opposite to each other in every way. Plikki is the non-binary ship between Tikki and Plagg from the Miraculous Ladybug fandom. Tikki and Plagg are two Kwamis that "know each other very well." They were originally kept together in the Miracle Box until the creation and destruction powers of their Ladybug and Cat Miraculouses were needed and the Kwamis were sent to two different people. Where their roles kept the Kwamis separate.
